It may surprise some of you to learn that ‘monochromatic photography’ doesn’t mean ‘Black White photography’ (But essentially all BW Photographs ARE Monochromatic, just not the other way around) and that in fact monochromatic photography is any photograph that has a single colour/hue, but can have variations in different shades/tints of that same colour. What is monochrome color?
That said, Black and white photography (which renders a photograph in varying degrees of gray) is the dominant example of monochromatic photography. Read more here in another of our articles.
